Too Much Sitting Health Consequences
When the body is in a seated position, the gluteal muscles, abdominal muscles, and legs remain static. When sitting for a long time day after day with no exercise/movement the muscles begin to degenerate/weaken and go into a pseudo form of atrophy from the lack of engaged movement/exercise. Metabolism is linked with body composition meaning that more muscle increases metabolism and helps burn more calories. Muscle loss, especially from the lower body which is the largest muscle group, can lead to continued fat gain if exercise is not implemented and an unhealthy diet is not changed.
