Thyroid Imbalance

791

It is projected that one in seven adult Americans and 27 percent of women in the United States have low thyroid functions and signs of chronic thyroid disease, respectively. The reason for this figure is in part due to the function of the gland that is a sentinel.

The thyroid’s function is to help regulate metabolism and hormones, in addition to muscle control, temperature, bone maintenance, development, brain growth, digestive, energy, hunger, and heart function and much more. This means that when something is going within the body, the thyroid gland will show signs of function as it will become fatigued with trying to regulate a failing system. This is why is thyroid disease so common.

The thyroid gland is a small”H” shaped organ that sits in the bottom of your neck. Although this gland is no bigger than a walnut, it’s a tremendous impact on your body. If your thyroid gland isn’t working correctly producing thyroid hormone, you can experience painful symptoms.

Factors that can contribute to Thyroid Disease:

  • Stress
  • Environmental toxins
  • Inflammation and Infections
  • Mineral Deficiencies
  • Chronic Medication Use

Thyroid hormone receptors are found throughout the body. This means that the consequences of thyroid imbalance can be felt almost anywhere. Here are important signs of low thyroid function:

  • Fatigue
  • Cold Intolerance
  • Diffuse migraines

Joint/muscle pain, Morning stiffness

  • Dry skin, brittle nails
  • Diffuse hair loss
  • Depression
  • Constipation
  • Low libido
  • Menstrual Irregularities
